BS8555
This is a British Standard designed to assist organisations wanting to achieve ISO 14001 and/or EMAS to work towards them via a six stage approach. Some features of BS 8555 are shown below:
- EMS implementation broken down into a series of logical, convenient, manageable phases
- Clearly defined route plan to ISO14001 certification and / or EMAS registration
- Self-determined time frame for implementation – you decide how fast and how far you want to progress
- Environmental performance improvement which can lead to reduced costs and improved business efficiency
BS 8555 is a relatively new standard in the UK and it is anticipated that an international ISO Standard combining this with other similar worldwide schemes will be developed over the next few years.
