ISO 14001
A common model for an environmental management system has been formulated by the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which standardises the elements
that an environmental management system should contain.
The ISO 14001 standard is organised around the following elements:
- Commitment &
Policy - define an environmental policy and ensure commitment to the EMS
- Planning
to fulfil the environmental policy
- Implementation of the policy, objectives and
targets
- Measuring & Evaluation of environmental performance and legal compliance
- Improvement with the objective of improving environmental
performance
