Green Dragon Environmental Management Standard Level Four
The Green Dragon Standard Level Four involves formalising environmental management into a structured system.
In order to achieve Level Four, an applicant must have achieved all the requirements of Levels One, Two and Three in addition to the requirements set down in Level Four itself.
There are seven elements to this fourth level of the Green Dragon Standard. These elements begin to formalise the steps taken in previous levels to build a more comprehensive environmental management system (EMS), relevant to both smaller and larger organisations, and those organisations working towards ISO 14001 or EMAS.
The elements of Level Four include:
Training
Formal training procedures should be developed to ensure environmental training needs of the organisation are met
Environmental Manual
A brief guidance document should be produced to provide an overview of elements with the EMS.
System Procedures
Procedures should be developed to control environmental impacts and key elements of EMS.
Control of Documents
Documents within the EMS should be controlled to prevent mistakes.
Problem Identification, Correction & Prevention
Problems within the EMS should be identified and corrective and preventive action taken.
Carbon Data Collection
Data on transport use should be collected and the quantity of Carbon Dioxide released by the organisation calculated.
Environmental Statement
The organisation must publish a brief statement of their environmental activities and performance.
Organisations achieving Level Four of the standard will receive a certificate and the Green Dragon Plaque. In recognition of reaching these advanced stages of environmental management, organisations can also display the Green Dragon Logo on stationery and marketing materials. Company details, Environmental Policy, Objectives & Targets, Carbon Dioxide released and the Environmental Statement will be registered on the Green Dragon website www.greendragonems.com.

is being maintained
